Castle Sunset on the Beach is a dog-friendly holiday home on the cliff above Cayton Bay, between Scarborough and Filey. Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome, so the whole family can come, and you'll have sea views to Scarborough Castle, a private hot tub and a big sandy beach at the bottom of the path.
What dog owners need to know
- Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please tell us when you book.
- The garden is enclosed, so there's somewhere safe to let them out first thing and last thing.
- Please keep dogs off the furniture and beds, and never leave them alone in the house.
- The beach is reached by a steep cliff path from next to the house. It's fine for most dogs and walkers, but it isn't suitable for anyone with limited mobility.
- Some beaches on this coast have seasonal dog restrictions, usually in summer. Check the signs on each beach before you let your dog off the lead.
Walks from the door
The Cleveland Way runs along the clifftop here, so you can walk north towards Scarborough or south towards Filey without getting in the car. Cayton Bay itself is a long, wide beach that's popular with surfers, rock poolers and dog walkers, especially outside the summer holidays when it's quiet.

Room for everyone
The house sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, two king and two twin, with 2 bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor. The open-plan living area faces the sea through floor-to-ceiling glass, there's a fireplace for after a wet walk, a games room with pool and darts, and parking for 3 cars. There's a washing machine for sandy towels, but no dishwasher. See the house page for the full list.
Out and about with your dog
Scarborough and Filey are each about 10 minutes by car, and the North York Moors are about 20 minutes away for longer walks. Our Cayton Bay area guide has more ideas, and our blog has a guide to a dog-friendly beach day on the Yorkshire coast.
